This piece features a Garnet that I shaped right out of the quartz schist! Quartz schist is kind of like quarry rock, but it has garnets in it, and if you're lucky you can find a big one like this one. It's actually pretty rare to find a garnet this nice in schist, and I'm happy with how it came out. It has such a stunning red and still retains some of the gemmy glint.
