This piece features a chunk of feldspar from the Outer Banks, in a zinc owl setting. Feldspar is mined from a quarry near there and can be found in the sand in some parts of road leading into the beaches in varying quality. I tried to angle this piece into the setting so the cleavage plane of the feldspar kind of looks like the owl's wing! I like creating visual designs in my pieces, if possible, like art. That's why picture jasper is so fun to work with. You aren't always necessarily choosing the design, but you get to create how it comes out.
